| Introduction :
||The Department of Chemistry is working under the umbrella of Faculty of Sciences with the aim to promote Chemistry as a science and to provide opportunity to those who could not educate themselves in formal system of education for one reason or another. Its faculty consists of one Professor, four Associate Professors, one Assistant Professor and four Lecturers. The Department is located in Science Block at AIOU, Main Campus where it has established 5 Teaching Laboratories for Certificate / Diploma in Forensic Sciences, BS and M.Sc. Chemistry practicalís, 6 Research Laboratories for M.Phil. / Ph.D. students and 3 Multidisciplinary Laboratories
| Objectives :
|| 1. To Provide second chance for working people to improve their qualification.
2. To promote the higher studies and research in the field of Chemistry.
3. To introduce courses related to Chemistry and Forensic Sciences at different levels.
4. To establish a cadre of productive scientists who can provide effective leadership in guiding and conducting quality research in various branches of chemistry
| Future Plans :
|| 1. Currently the Department is offering specialization in Organic Chemistry, Inorganic / Analytical Chemistry and Physical Chemistry at BS level. At MPhil level, the Department is offering specialization in Organic Chemistry and intends to start specializations in Analytical / Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry in near future.
2. From year 2020, Department of Chemistry is also offering Certificate / Diploma in Forensic Sciences.
|Academic Facilities :
||The Department has been successfully offering BS, MPhil and PhD. Chemistry Programs since 2003. Recently the Department has offered Certificate / Diploma in Forensic Sciences. The Department is also coordinating Chemistry courses of F.Sc program of this university.
