Dr Muhammad Zaman Ashraf s/o Muhammad Ashraf, working as Assistant Professor at Chemistry Department, Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad. I have completed my M.Phil in Organic Chemistry from Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad in 2003. The research work I have accomplished in MPhil includes synthesis and characterization of liquid crystalline material. I have completed my PhD degree from Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad in 2011. I have been awarded Postdoctoral fellowship (Brain Korea 21 plus BK-21 Plus) at Kongju National University, Gongju South Korea from June 2014 to March 2016.

Project, Research Interests
I have been awarded a research project (Rs. 2.2million) from Higher Education Commission of Pakistan HEC. I have been successfully completed the project and HEC has been issued me the project completion certificate in 2019. I am currently working as Co-PI in another HEC funded project. I have published 98 research papers in good impact factor journals having international repute, 10 of my research papers are under consideration in different journals. Four of my PhD students have completed their research work under my supervision, one of them currently doing postdoctoral research in Thailand. Thirty students have completed their M.Phil research work under my supervision. I have developed research collaboration with Kongju National University South Korea, University of Queensland Australia and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
My research area is Organic and Medicinal Chemistry including drug development through enzyme based assays. We have developed a highly potent tyrosinase inhibitor in collaboration with South Korean and Australian research groups. Two of patents from this work have been submitted and are under review. One of my project is related to drug delivery system for NSAIDs, several prodrugs of these drugs have been synthesized and published from my research group. I am enthusiastic in teaching chemistry and doing research as well.
