Introduction
The BS Mass Communication Programme consists of 129 credit hour courses to be completed in a minimum period of four years. The programme provides a broad overview of mass communication theories and methods with special focus on Competency Based Learning. In order to complete the General Education requirements, Disciplinary Requirements and Practical Learning Requirements, students will be required to attend fortnightly tutorials, participate in workshops, and do internship in an accredited media organization along with participating in Entrepreneurship/Youth Club/Sports activities as per HEC/ University guidelines.
OBJECTIVES
The BS Mass Communication programme has been designed to achieve the following objectives:
- To cater the educational needs of our students and to prepare and guide them for pursuing higher studies and research in mass communication.
- To enable the students understand and explain the dynamics of the social phenomena of mass communication and media sociology in Pakistani society.
- To meet the professional requirements of media industry and job market.
INTERNSHIP MANNUAL
In 8th Semester, a student is required to do an Internship for two months (Mandatory requirement of BS Mass Communication Degree) in any reputed Newspaper of Pakistan, TV News Channel and Radio Station of your choice. After completion of two month internship the student is required to prepare an Internship Report as per given format, make hard bound copy of Internship in black color with golden color writing and submit it (in hard & soft form) to the Internship Coordinator Department of Mass Communication, AIOU, Islamabad alongwith Internship Evaluation Proforma Signed and Stamp from the concerned Organization and Internship letter from the organization from where Internship completed.

Eligibility Criteria
Admission will be offered to students having intermediate or equivalent qualification on open merit basis as per the University policy.
Selection Process
It is an open merit programme and admission will be granted to all the candidates meeting the minimum eligibility criteria.

Teaching Methodology
This BS (4-year) in Mass Communication is offered in blended mode. There will be online workshop classes in every semester with compulsory 70% attendance. Two assignments, a quiz and a final exam will conducted for each course. Research Project/Thesis and Two Months internship are mandatory components of the degree.

Workshop
There will be mandatory online classes/workshops for all the courses and attendance will be compulsory as per the University rules.
Thesis
Mandatory thesis in final semester.
Practical
02 months mandatory internship in the field will give the practical orientation to the students.
Viva
Viva-voce exam for thesis will be conducted.
