The Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) was established right after Allama Iqbal Open University was founded in 1974.  This Directorate is responsible for establishing, fostering and sustaining good relationship between the university and its major stakeholders through the use of mass media as well as social media. As a matter of fact, roles and responsibilities of the Directorate of Public Relations have been considerably increased recently in the wake of highly fluid and dynamic world of social media. The Directorate is working as a bridge between university’s administration, internal and external publics by the use of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts besides publication of press releases in the national press and producing audio / visual content for image building of the university.






​​​1.            To create awareness regarding various measures of the university for promotion of education in the country.

2.            To build the positive image of the University.

3.            To remove misconceptions related to Distance Education System in Pakistan.

4.            To encourage students, especially the marginalized sections of the society to avail the educational services of AIOU.

The Allama Iqbal Open University was established in May, 1974, with the main objectives of providing educational opportunities to masses and to those who cannot leave their homes and jobs. During all these past years, the University has more than fulfilled this promise.
