BS Physics with Data Science

Introduction

The Department of Physics launched a new program BS Physics with Data Science (Minor) as per HEC's new undergraduate education policy 2023. This program is the need of the hour as it is a combination of both solid foundation in Physics (theoretical and experimental) alongside practical skills in Data Science. Physics is all about big data handling from materials simulation to high energy physics and even astrophysics, the analysis as well as visualization of big data is vital. Nowadays machine learning and AI have been employed by researchers to develop algorithms which will save computational and experimental resources and will reduce the laborious work. This will also enable the researchers to open new avenues in diverse disciplines of Physics and help them solve real-world problems. The BS Physics with Data Science has already been started internationally and recently after HEC's new policy few national Universities already launched these programs. To launch a BS program with one major and one minor, the HEC's new policy recommends 72 credits of major and 12 credits (4 courses) of minor. In this regard, courses data science courses have been integrated with the BS Physics courses.

Eligibility Criteria

Inter (Pre-medical/Pre- Engineering/Computer) A-Level/DAE with Physics as a course.

Selection Process

Selection on Merit Bases Based on Criteria laid down by the Department and University. Departmental Admission Committee to conduct an admission test/interview.

Duration

4 Years (8 Semesters) 148 Credit Hours

Medium of Instruction

The Medium of Instructions for BS Physics will be English.
