Allama Iqbal Open University, Regional Center Chitral was established in February 1987 to provide tutorial support service and students support services to the students of district Chitral which was the largest district in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in terms of area covering about 14,850 km². The region now comprises of two districts i.e., district Lower Chitral which has three tehsils i.e., tehsil Chitral, tehsil Drosh and tehsil Lutkoh and district Upper Chitral which consists of tehsil Mulkhow, tehsil Mastuj and tehsil Torkhow. A help desk has been established and functional for facilitation of students for numerous activities. The regional center has well equipped computer lab and a beautiful library. Two study centers and 8 examination centers are established under RC Chitral and 176 tutors are registered with RC Chitral and 1340 students are enrolled as per semester Spring 2022.
