Regional Center, Dera Ismail Khan was established on 1st March, 1984 and was shifted to its own state of art building in the city center near main district courts, D.I.Khan on 9th March, 2001. This RC is providing education to over 20,000 students annually belonging to six districts including DIKhan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Tank, North Waziristan, and South districts through open and distance learning mode. For student facilitation, the premises has a well-equipped library, student facilitation desk, video conferencing room, auditorium, and a start of the art computer lab with PERN connectivity. The RC provides information about offered programs like ADA, BS, BEd, certificate courses, online admissions, resolving student issues etc.In line with AIOU slogan “Education for All”, the RC DI Khan encourages people with special abilities, socially deprived, women, transgenders, and jail inmates though fee exemption or concession. Moreover, RC offers free matric education to Ex-FATA students having domicile of North and South Waziristan. To further facilitate students, RC DI Khan establishes exam centers, workshop centers and appoint tutors at Tehsil/district level in each semester. Over 2000, highly qualified registered tutors provide guidance to the enrolled students through tutorials and online workshops. As a part of expansion plan, two model study centers will be established in Miranshah and Wana in near future to provide education to the Waziristan students at their doorsteps.
