Personal Profile:
This is Dr. Nasim Khan Mahsud, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Allama Iqbal Open University-AIOU Islamabad Pakistan.
I am having work experience of 15 years, however working in the department since 2009 till-date in the capacity of academic, researcher, and coordinator for different programs and departmental activities along with that I have come up with the development of different courses for undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Currently working as program/thesis coordinator of M.Sc sociology program, BS Sociology and Postgraduate diploma in Population & development. I am a member of the National Curriculum Revision Committee on Sociology & Criminology for HEC-Pakistan as subject expert, also having membership of different advisory and editorial boards (journals/COCs) of universities across Pakistan. Serving different universities of Pakistan in the capacity of the external evaluator of thesis/research projects at masters and M.Phil level.
I have developed courses for different level programs offered by the department. Also, developed the new scheme of studies for M.Phil Sociology program of the department as well prepared agenda of new PhD Sociology Program. I am teaching courses and coordinating online workshops at the postgraduate level for the department. Along with that organizing conferences and seminars, providing support to administrative and servicing departments of the university i.e. directorate of IET and ICT, AP& CP, Exams, Admission, DRS with reference to sociology programs.
Publications
I have 23 research publications, 14 research papers presentation, 02 books publications, and 05 articles are in process of publication.
Project, Research Interests
Currently supervising thesis projects of postgraduate level. I am closely working on youth, urbanization, and different dynamics of gender domain in the Pakistani context i.e. influences of globalization on culture, economy, and politics of Pakistan, world openness via media and modernization and its effects on women and youth, ODL-education & women empowerment, violence and women status in Pakistan, changing cultural dynamics due to technology and media, and international influences on women political participation in Pakistan are a few among other areas of my academic and research interest.
