Region History

University started its services in city of shrines back in November 1976. It was the first regional campus established soon after the establishment of university. The Regional Campus is situated in its own two buildings comprising of 14 Kanal of area. 21 members of staff, Regional Campus are exuberantly guiding its students.
This region comprises 2 districts Multan & Khanewal and 7 Tehsil’s Khanewal, Kabirwala, Jahania, Mianchannu, Jalalpur Pirwala, Shuja’Abad and Multan. This plain surface Region has 2.1 million population. Multan is known as the 'City of Saints and Shrines', and is a prosperous city of bazaars, mosques, shrines, and superbly designed tombs. Multan has more than 60% literacy rate, which is highest amongst the cities of southern Punjab. 
This Regional Campus is equipped with 19 classrooms, a library, video conference facility for online classes and RD Conference, training sessions / online meetings of tutors, a spacious auditorium, two computer labs and girls hostel facility for students of far-flung areas. As per enrolment for semester spring 2022 semester was 13465 students and 706 tutors are associated with Regional Campus and 16 examinations centers are established under Regional Campus Multan.

About

The Allama Iqbal Open University was established in May, 1974, with the main objectives of providing educational opportunities to masses and to those who cannot leave their homes and jobs. During all these past years, the University has more than fulfilled this promise.
