Region History

Region Campus Timergara of Allama Iqbal Open University was established on 6th May 2019 after the bifurcation of Regional Campus Swat. Since then, the office is covering major districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa i.e., Dir Lower, Dir Upper, Malakand and Bajaur and a total of 21 Tehsils. The total area under its jurisdiction ranges up to 7524 km2.12 study centers are functional for the guidance of students at their doorsteps and a of 14 exam centers are established under RC Timergara. A total of 2945 tutors are registered from this region. Enrollment as per semester Spring 2022 was 13160.

The Allama Iqbal Open University was established in May, 1974, with the main objectives of providing educational opportunities to masses and to those who cannot leave their homes and jobs. During all these past years, the University has more than fulfilled this promise.
