Introduction

The Department of History, established in 1995 as part of the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities, has been offering academic programs at the Intermediate, Graduate, and Post-graduate levels. M.Phil. History and PhD programs were launched in Spring 2015 and Autumn 2017, respectively. In keeping with evolving academic standards and in accordance with HEC guidelines, the Department has launched a four-year BS History program. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of historical processes, methodologies, and interdisciplinary approaches, preparing them for both academic and professional careers. Through this program, students will gain in-depth knowledge of global and regional histories, while developing critical thinking, research, and communication skills essential for historians.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

To familiarize students with the theoretical and conceptual foundations of the discipline.

To provide insight into multiple approaches and diverse perspectives on the development of human society.

To enhance awareness of global developments in world history.

To foster an understanding of regional history.

To introduce an integrated approach towards the Social Sciences.

Workshop

The online workshop for each course will comprise of 12 hours, with 2 hours daily for 6 days except for project as per AIOU policy. Each semester will have a workshop for the courses offered in that particular semester. There will be an online quiz for every course at the end of the workshop.

The teaching practice course will have a face to face workshop.

Assessment Weightage
