Introduction

Allama Iqbal Open University although is an open distance University but it caters for the facilitation of its students. The University has proper boarding facilities for the male and female students who visit the university for various purposes. At present there are two hostels one each for male and female students are functioning at the main campus and one for female students at Regional Centre Multan. Besides, university has a Bachelor hostel for providing transit accommodation facility to newly inducted faculty and officers, it also has well furnished suites and executive rooms for the guests on payment.

Hostels are managed by Assistant Director (Guest House)who is responsible for providing proper hostel facilities to the students and guests and also maintain peace, harmony and discipline round the clock. Hostel allotment of the students is carried out on “first come first serve” basis preferably on recommendations of respective Chairperson of the Department.

The Registrar Department plays an important role. It coordinates the administrative activities of the university. As such, it is backbone of the university. It works under the direct supervision of the Vice-Chancellor. The main functions of the Registrar Department include the formulation of Rules & Regulation for smooth and efficient working of the university; and to implement the policies relating to the Academic and Administrative matters. In addition arrangements for the meetings of Statutory Bodies are made by the department, ,

The Allama Iqbal Open University was established in May, 1974, with the main objectives of providing educational opportunities to masses and to those who cannot leave their homes and jobs. During all these past years, the University has more than fulfilled this promise.
