Introduction
There is a growing need for qualified and competent teachers at all levels of education in the country. Aligned with the HEC undergraduate policy 2023 and scheme of studies of B.Ed. (04 years), B.Ed. (2.5 years) program provide prospective teachers with 14 years of education (BA/BSc/ADA/equivalent) with the necessary skills, knowledge, and training required to become effective educators. The bridging/first semester offers disciplinary courses to the prospective teachers. Rest of the four semesters are adopted from the last four semesters of the B.Ed. (04 years). The only difference is the one course on supervised school observation that is offered in the third semester of B.Ed. (2.5 years).
B.Ed. (2.5 years) program has significant importance and a wide scope. B.Ed. (2.5 years) program allows prospective teachers to develop an in-depth understanding of teaching methodologies, curriculum and instruction, and classroom management. Graduates with B.Ed. (2.5 years) program can contribute to designing and revising curriculum materials, ensuring they are relevant, effective, and aligned with the educational goals. They can pursue their career as school teachers. With the knowledge of pedagogy and educational theories, the graduates can work as educational consultants. They can advise schools, educational institutions, and government bodies on educational practices, curriculum development, and teacher training. B.Ed. (2.5 years) program emphasizes action research skills, which are valuable for conducting educational research and contributing to the improvement of teaching and learning practices. The graduates can also provide private tutoring services, especially for subject-specific coaching through online or face-to-face mode.
