Dr Rukhsana Durani
Dr. Rukhsana Durrani is working as a regular faculty member in the Department of Early Childhood Education & Elementary Teacher Education of Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad since March 2011.
She is the Assistant Editor of the Journal of Early Childhood Care & Education and has been working on different projects of both primary and elementary levels of education, teachers' training, and training of ECCE practitioners.
Developed numerous programs for Early childhood education, primary and elementary education, reports of projects, author of many research articles and units of books, supervised
and reviewed many thesis and research articles, and reviewer of numerous national and international research journals.
Awards such as a gold medal, distinction certificates, and position certificates in academics are her achievements during the academic career.
Areas of research are education for sustainable development, peace education, citizenship education childhood education, and teacher training.

Project, Research Interests

I have been worked in projects of educating marginalized segment of population especially

worked on girls’ education. The project which I have worked were to developed the curriculum

and courses for primary education, elementary education, adult education and skill education for

drop out learners and girls’ education. Teachers training and evaluation and monitoring of the

learners’ centers were the part of these projects. I have researches on Education for Sustainable

Development which is one of the core areas of my interest in research. I am interested in

community education, community participation in education, Early childhood development,

parenting in ECCE, community engagement for ECCE, curriculum development, ESD and

SDG’s.

About

The Allama Iqbal Open University was established in May, 1974, with the main objectives of providing educational opportunities to masses and to those who cannot leave their homes and jobs. During all these past years, the University has more than fulfilled this promise.
