Introduction

This course will help the teachers and parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in understanding and supporting their child. We will begin by defining ASD and exploring the concept of neurodiversity, celebrating the unique strengths and perspectives of autistic individuals. The course will cover a comprehensive scope, including key areas such as communication styles, sensory processing differences along with behavior and emotional regulation. We will emphasize the critical importance of informed parental understanding and tailored support in fostering your child's growth, well-being, and ability to thrive. By establishing this foundational knowledge, this module aims to equip you with the confidence and insight needed to navigate the subsequent topics with greater clarity and purpose.

OBJECTIVE

The primary purpose of this course is to

  1. Provide basic knowledge and necessary skills to parents and caregivers for the effectively support their children with ASD
  2. Equip caregivers and parents with strategies to address communication styles and sensory processing differences.
  3. Empower caregivers to support behavior and emotional regulation through informed, individualized approaches
