Introduction
The Post Graduate Dilpoma in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (Dip TEFL) is a 30 credit hour programme. It was launched in the late 1980s. The aim of this programme is to create awareness about approaches, techniques and methods involving learning and teaching English as a foreign language in the classroom. This programme, which offers courses that cover theoreitical as well as practical aspects of English language teaching such as psycholinguistics, language teaching methdology, sociolinguistics and teaching grammar, phonology, language skills, classroom management, etc., can be very useful not only for those teachers who are already teaching English but also for those who want to teach English as a foreign or second language in future.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates with the following qualification are eligible for admission:
MA/BS (16 years’ education/degree in English Language/Linguistics/Literature) Admissions are awarded on merit which is determined by the Department.

Only the selected candidates will be informed about their selection for admission to the program and all the processes will be completed online by the Admission Department of the University.

Teaching Methodology
The University allocates tutors for the students to get guideline accordingly. Attendance and tutorial is compulsory. A student has to secure passing marks in the final exam to successfully complete the concerned educational program.

Workshop
At the end of the second semester, the students have to attend a compulsory workshop 5663 for 12 days. In the workshop, they are given intensive training in teaching grammar, pronunciation, language skills, vocabulary, etc.
Practical
Students have to prepare lesson plans and present (demonstrate) them in the workshop.
